Copyright statement

HomeCopyright statement

On this website, almost all the text and graphics, and many of the photographs, are my original work. Their copyright belongs to me.

You may not reproduce these materials, in whole or in part, without my explicit prior consent.

Such reproduction includes, but is not limited to: copying my work on your website; hosting one of my pages inside a frame on your website; and publishing my work in a book or e-book format.

Elements of my website design are also copyright. For example, you may not use any of the design graphics, such as the shuttlecock silhouette graphic in the level two headings. You must make your own.

Taken as a whole, the design and code are also copyright. Feel free to take inspiration from this site, but don’t rip me off. This website is not a free template!

The Badminton Bible logo and the name Badminton Bible are trademarks.

May I link to you?

Yes, please do! Linking to a web page is like recommending a book. This is not a violation of copyright.

Fair use

This section is purely informative. The information here does not constitute a grant of rights; I am simply offering an informal explanation of fair use.

For a fuller explanation of fair use, see the Wikipedia article on fair use.

Copyright law allows the reproduction of small extracts under terms of fair use. For example, you may quote briefly from one of my articles, provided you attribute the quote appropriately.

This does not mean that you may use small extracts from my site, passing them off as your own work. That would be a violation of my copyright.

A good example of fair use would be as follows: you link to one of my articles, and accompany the link with a short extract from the article. This is common practice on blogs.

Exceptions

Text

On occasion, I reproduce material from other sources, such as phrases from the Badminton England coaching manuals, or apt expressions from other coaches. In most cases I attribute these to their originators. Badminton England have granted me permission to use some of their published text, and elements of our dialogues, without attribution.

The original copyright owners retain their rights over such material. I reproduce it on this site only in accordance with fair use/fair dealing laws, or because the copyright owner has granted me the right to reproduce it.

Should any copyright owner feel that I have violated his copyright, I ask that he contact me so that I may correct the oversight.

Photographs

Many of the images on this site are my original work; I own their copyright. For example, I have created many photographs of myself demonstrating a posture, grip, or movement.

I also use images captured from freely-available videos of badminton tournaments. My main source for these is YouTube. Although I am not able to verify the sources of these videos, they often appear to have been recorded from a television channel.

Naturally I will remove any copyrighted material at the request of the copyright holder. Please contact me if you believe I may be violating your copyright.
